N.Y.S.C | CAMP EXPERIENCE PART 1

Hi,

Finally got round to writing this post,I dunno why I have been putting it off for so long,Maybe because i thought i had so much to write about,Which I do But first of all if you dunno what the NYSC is all about check out my Previous post HERE,

First of all 1 wanna give a huge Shout-out to all the 2014 BATCH A Corp Members especially Platoon 6 and Room 11 Girls....we saw and we conquered!!!! HIP HIP HIP....Hurray !!!!

It was the most amazing three weeks of my life,I met a lot of people, My endurance Level was tested and damn I miss the good ol' bugel,Waking up at 4 a.m everyday was No joke,The first couple of days was exhausting...I wont lie the bed was not the most comfortable bed ever it was like sleeping on springs and the camp food...well i dunno how that tasted 'cus I always purchased my food from the Famous and Popular Maami Market....Hmmm Maami Market,I miss that place; everyone looked forward to chilling there in the evening...the music,atmosphere,nightlife was just phenomenal....This Part one is just the general aspect of my camp Experience,Part two would be an in-depth of all you need to know about Managing and Adapting to Camp Life,Applying for N.Y.S.C as a foreign trained graduate e.t.c

Lemme gist you of your typical daily routine in camp

4.30 am - Be out in the Parade ground in your all white outfit,Morning exercise and Drills take place till 7.30 a.m

7.30 a.m- 8.30 a.m - Shower and breakfast

9 a.m-2 p.m- SAED lectures out in the sun...Urghhh this was the most boring part of the day where people sleep off or simply sneak into maami market just to chill,Trust me it was very irritating and annoying

2 p.m - 4 p.m - Lunch,observe siestas if you do so wish,sports training for those representing their platoon in volleyball,football,athletics, and all other sports

4 p.m- 6.30 p.m - Evening drills....O.M.G my patience and my endurance skills was put to the test,Standing and marching under the sun,soldiers shouting at you and making "yanga" biko i just tell them oga no dey shout for my face u dey pour spit for ground....but seriously though those soldiers can stress your life out but I didn't let them Intimidate me,Rather we became friends at the end of the day

6.30 p.m-10.pm - Dinner time..This is the part where you go and chill at maami with your friends,enjoy the lovely music,suya, asun,small chops,enough drinks to go around too and of course dance! dance!! dance!!!

10 p.m - The Bugle starts to make noise,Its lights out!!!

That was our standard routine but on some during camp blast,camp concerts and other activities the routine is set to change.

N.Y.S.C was a whole new platform for me,I integrated with so many people of different cultures and races!!!I would totally do it again if i was given a chance too.....Stay Tuned for Part Two !!!!

CURRENT MAKE-UP FAVOURITES

So lately I have received so many compliments about my makeup and there are FAQ i get asked which are what I use blah blah blah but to be honest I don't use too much makeup not in a 40 degree Nigerian weather,My skin has just really been glowing lately and I am in love with it so i use so little makeup but I always contour and highlight when I am going to work (3 days a week) but other than that,I am always bare faced.

THE BOHEMIAN LADY

Long time no blog post,

With Regards to my last blog post I just returned back from the NYSC camp and I must say i had the time of my life,But that's for another post where ill blog about my Camp experience but it was Worth it...Anyways back to today's post,After i left camp My braids were so untidy and I decided to try a different hairstyle something out of my comfort zone,Something out of the box,So I went ahead and bought this Hair in Agege from the Gold noble collection range called "Bohemian Rustic" FYI its a synthetic hair, its been years I had a synthetic weave installed about 5/6 years ago but trust me this hair is Giving me so much Life right now!!

Survival Guide to Live in Lagos #1

As you may Know I relocated to Lagos,Nigeria about three weeks ago and I decided to share with you my Survival Tips and Tricks to living in Lagos.

Lagos is such an over crowded and overpopulated state compared to the rest of the 35 states left and to live here after been away for this country for over 10 years was such a huge adjustments but I have been back home several times for the two week holidays etc but its a different ball game when you decide to relocate here.So i share with you my 7 survival guide #1 and I hope you learn a thing or two from it !

1.       Know where you are Going and DONT answer anybody : This was the first rule/tip my boyfriend told me the second day I got to Lagos and we were about to head out,What general happens is that people in the area know that you are new to the vicinity and what they tend to do is to call out names like “heyy” “fine girl” “see fine skin” and all sorts just to catch your attention so you can respond and Give them that attention but If you want to live in Lagos trust me you don’t need those type of time wasters just keep on walking;So far you know where you are going u’d be fine.

2.       Curfew : In Lagos 8 p.m is considered late for a Lady to keep walking about the road because all sorts are happening in the country, So by 7.30 p.m you should be home unless if you have your personal car, there is a little safety in that but  still leave early to arrive early for your own safety

3.       Traffic – Rush hour in the morning is generally between the hours of 6-8 a.m and in the evening is from 5-7 p.m and trust me traffic can be so annoying, frustrating and exhausting, especially traffic on the third main-land bridge every day because Individuals who work on the Island but live on the Main land have to make their way back home.

4.      Spend Wisely: Just because you have the money doesn't necessarily mean you have to spend it anyhow, You gatta optimize your spending especially if you are not working Yet!!As a freshie, food vendors(bread sellers e.t.c) and road side markets( pepper,meat and fish sellers etc) may want to extort you but hey Know how to price WELL WELL ,This is Lagos there are  no fixed cost on goods and services(excepts eatery and supermarkets) so you can like to price an item for 1200 to 500 Naira it takes skills and levels to do that but just optimize spending and cut down on your wants and save up for your needs, The last thing you want to happen is to be broke and end up going to relatives begging for money.

5.       Language: As a Nigerian You need to know/speak/converse in your tribal language, That is very important  because that will help you move around easily and interact with people more; that being said English is the first language of the country but some people don’t know how to speak /understand English SHOCKING!!!I  know right but knowing your tribal language is a huge advantage though, and please try and drop the accent when you around people you don’t know!!!

6.       Electricity/noise pollution; A huge factor that is making me dislike this country,On the mainland where i stay we are unfortunate to have little or no electricity at home;If you are living on the island consider yourself Lucky!! But I had a huge problem adjusting to the lack of electricity but i am adjusting as the days go by,In-fact as i am writing this post we aint got no electricity...urghhh which bring me to my next point NOISE POLLUTION omGGGG i have never heard so many noise in my life due to the Generators!!!Like i had trouble sleeping for about two weeks due to the noise from the generators!!! it was a nightmare so much noise, its crazy; every house owns a generator so Imagine when there is no electricity and every house hold turns on the generator at night.....its MENTAL!!!! So if you want to live in Lagos there aint no such thing as Peace and Quiet

7.       Trust in God: Finally Believe and trust in God because without him,You and I wont be where we are today!!!

HONG KONG SANDALS

 

I purchased these Sandals about two weeks ago from ASOS, You can find it HERE....I already Sighted these pair of fabulous sandals on the website during the Christmas/January Sales But I wasn't really motivated to purchase it Until I saw it on Shirley B. Eniang Facebook, She purchased and Wore it on her birthday and I saw how glamorous it looked on her feet, I had no Choice Than to Purchase it.

Shipping and Processing took roughly about four days and I received it prior to my departure to Nigeria and I must say these Heels are just perfect!!! I Like it because the heel Height is just 4 Inches and being a tall girl of 5"8,It made absolute sense but then again I love it because it’s so comfortable despite the thin strap its super duper comfy and the Metal Trim with Spikes Made these Shoes Stand out, so matter what Outfit you intend to wear, These sandals would definitely be perfect to glam up your outfit.

Quick Update....NEW BEGINNING!!!

I know i have been M.I.A for over a month and that was because I was in the process of Moving Locations!!!

That been said I am Currently Living In Nigeria( My birth Place) which is in Africa,I am about to start my NYSC ( National Youth Service Corps) Programme which last for a year!!!I have been Verified already and I just have to wait patiently to find out what state I would be posted to which i Hope would be Lagos State; That been said I would do make a video very soon about this Service for all Nigerian Foreign Students and What is requested for this programme is you are Interested in doing it of course!!!

Orientation camp commences Next month and I cannot wait for the camp,Apparently from what I heard its like been in a soldier's training camp,We were uniforms,get to be trained by various Soldier(time to get in shape) and we have an early morning start at 4.30 A.M!!!!Its crazy I know right but I cant wait to embark on this Journey!!!

As for the Weather its pretty OK,Some days its not too hot and some days like today its completely Hot with temperatures as high as 31 degrees....My makeup has been behaving,I have been wearing makeup everyday since I got here and it hasn't been dripping or smudged I guess its all about using a good foundation primer and I actually mix my primer with my foundation before application.

I have been having a swell time and I have a ton of videos planned for you all and I cannot wait to share them with my online community,I am still settling in at the moment but I thought i should update you guys quickly and share some Landscape Pictures from My trip to Abuja Recently;been a bit difficult taking pictures here as I have to be very careful!!!

TRADITIONAL WEDDING - WHAT I WORE

Hello beautiful readers ,

Hope you all had a beautyiful weekend 'cus i sure did!!!I attended a friends wedding and let me tell you a secret I have never been to a wedding before but I have been to two funeral...weird innit; but have always seen beautiful wedding pictures and drool and moaned about not attending one so when I got an Invite my excitement went through the roof!!!

As you all know I am a Nigerian but from the Yoruba tribe and If a wedding a.k.a Owanbe is taking place the full traditional outfit comes out which is the Iro,Buba and Gele or Aso ebi or ankara or Velvet...the list is endless but these are the common ones so I opted to wear the Iro ,Buba and Gele in a Lace texture which is basically a Blouse,wrapper and a headtie. The Headtie or the Gele is a hard fabric that comes in many types of fabrics such as damasks,aso oke,net gele and so on... but i wore a gele and trust me guys not everyone can tie these,but I tied mine and I think i did a great job at tying mine as there are so many styles such as layered gele,fan gele,satelish dish and so on...sounds funny right?? But I love my culture and the outifits.

The bride and Groom look stunning in their outfuts at the wedding too and it was such a wonderful wedding,I had fun and it was great seeing so many faces I haven't seen in years!!!
